The Batting Cage is Ready for Use!
Join us Sunday, January 17, from 1 to 4pm in the Montauk Playhouse Gymnasium as we unveil our new batting cage!

Legislator Schneiderman, as well as members of the press, will be on hand Sunday for the unveiling. Come on down and test your batting skills (youth 8 years old and up allowed to bat), and bring your mitt. Let’s get ready for the spring baseball and softball season.

More Programs for Our Youth
Yoga for Pre-K 4 through 6th Grades
One of our local moms had a great idea to set up a yoga class for our youth – she took care of the legwork, and we now have a yoga program for Pre-K 4 through 6th grades. We have combined forces with Sangha Yoga to offer a 5-week program. Classes will be held on Wednesdays, beginning on January 13 (they will run for 5 weeks, ending the week before winter break). Pre-K 4 through 2nd grade will meet from 3:15 to 4pm. 3rd through 6th grades will meet from 4:15 to 5pm. The program costs $25 per person. Advance registration is required for all participants. click here for flier and waiver.
Ballet Classes
The Hampton Ballet Theatre School has been conducting ballet lessons in Montauk since early September. The school will continue to teach classes throughout the winter on Tuesdays at Sangha Yoga. The current session ends at the end of January (there is a typo on the attached forms – the session ends on the last Tuesday in January), but interested students can join now and pay a pro-rated price. The next session begins in early February. Call 537-2309 for more information. click here for flier and registration form.
Karate for Kids Ages 8 through 12 in Montauk

The program, which is brought to you by Body Tech Montauk, costs $45 for the full 6 weeks. Call 238-5311 for more information.
Montauk Youth News for January 2010

Kindergarten and first will skate from 10am to 11am. Second and third will skate from 11am to noon. The cost for this program is $2 per skater (to help cover the cost of skate and wheel upgrades). All skaters must use skates provided by Montauk Youth – NO OUTSIDE SKATES ALLOWED. Helmets are required for all skaters (Montauk Youth has a few, but we recommend you bring your own) and pads and wrist guards are recommended. A signed waiver is required for each participant. Click here for waiver.
Family Skate Night
Montauk Youth’s December event was such a success that we scheduled another family skating event. On Friday, January 22, we will again take over the indoor arena on Abraham’s Path in Amagansett for 2 hours of rollerskating and roller blading fun. All ages are invited to participate. An admission fee of $5 covers use of the rink, pizza and drinks. Please give us a heads up if you plan to attend, so we know how much pizza to order. Signed waivers are required for all participants. Click here for waivers.
We have a limited number of skates to lend out, and are asking for donations of any rollerskates or blades that you or your children may have grown out of. We will make all donated skates available to those that need them during our family skating events. Contact me (668-1540 or through this email) and I’ll make arrangements to pick your skates up, or you can bring them in to school (we’ll have a box at the front entrance).
Our Mascot
The blizzard just before Christmas put a damper on our plans to unveil the winning name (our youth voted for the best of 5 names on our website during several weeks in December) of our Mustang mascot. We’re hoping to unveil the name this January – we’ll let you know when the big day is planned.
Batting Cage and Pitching Machine
Through a generous grant from County Legislator Jay Scheiderman, Montauk Youth was able to purchase a batting cage and pitching machine for the gymnasium at the Montauk Playhouse. We’re working out the final setup details and hope to have the whole shebang up and running at the Montauk Playhouse in the coming weeks. We’re very excited for this, and look forward to providing our youth with off-season batting practice.
The Town of East Hampton Department of Parks and Recreation will be starting a number of winter programs this week, including:
