Montauk Youth has put together a funk squad drill team for those in 3rd through 6th grade to march in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The squad is learning a short routine along with some funky marching. Those interested can attend practices the next two Wednesdays (March 10 and 17) from 3pm to 4pm in the Montauk School Multi-Purpose Room. There may also be practice from 4pm to 5pm for those with other conflicts – contact Joy at 668-1327 to discuss.
Montauk Youth is still looking for all ages to participate in our float meetings. We, too, are meeting from 3pm to 4pm the next 2 Wednesdays. Bring your junk – our theme is Peace~Love~Earth – we’re creating art out of used CDs, old game pieces, trinkets, etc! There is a blue recycle bin at school in case you can’t participate in the meetings but want to donate your junk.
Funk Squad and Float participants should bring a white tee shirt to the March 10 meeting – we’ll be preparing the shirts for tie-dying. We do have some extra shirts.

Montauk Youth has been planning a float for Montauk’s St. Patrick’s Day parade for some time. It’s now time to put our plans in to action! We’ll be having float meetings for all ages (yes, parents too!) the next 3 Wednesdays – March 3, 10, and 17 – at 3pm in the MultiPurpose Room of the Montauk School. We have lots of projects planned, so participants need to be ready to craft.
The theme for the float is Peace ~ Love ~ Earth. Projects will be created using items destined for the trash, including used CDs, jar lids, fabric scraps, cereal boxes, Happy Meal toys…The possibilities are endless. We’re even collecting Mardi Gras beads and your unused party favors to throw to the crowds. A collection box is located in the front lobby of the Montauk School.
Call Maureen at 668-1540 with any questions. We hope you’ll join us!

Montauk Youth has just added an Equipment Exchange page to our site. Check it out and list equipment you are willing to pass on or equipment that you are looking for. It is brand new – we’re still working out the glitches – so please be patient with it and let us know what you think. (It is definitely glitchy in FireFox, but seems to work fine in Explorer).
